In the course of function the body has cells which take up minerals and structures to perform different operations. When certain toxins are introduced to the body they can mimic the process uptake, filling the cells with foreign matter.

Chronic disease has become more and more prevalent to the point that it’s difficult to find a person who is fully healthy, no allergies, autoimmunity, eczema, food intolerances, cysts, depression, anxiety or other form of ailment.

We know this is happening with toxic halides like bromide replacing the cells needing iodine. Studies are showing this is probably happening with glyphosate, also.

“When a cell is trying to form proteins, it may grab glyphosate instead of glycine to form a damaged, mis-folded protein. After that it’s medical chaos. Where glyphosate replaces glycine, the cell can no longer conduct business as usual causing unpredicted consequences with many diseases and disorders as a result,” says Stephen Frantz, Ph.D., pathobiologist research scientist.

Glycine is an amino acid which is involved in plasma membrane structure and cytoskeleton as well as flexibility. Glycine is found in protein.

Beyond Pesticides says, “This new direct biological evidence, taken together with correlational data, make a compelling case that glyphosate action as a glycine analogue accounts for much of glyphosate’s toxicity, according to the study. The authors find that glyphosate, as an amino acid analogue of  glycine, may be incorporated into polypeptide chains during protein synthesis. In doing so, it has an impact on the structure and function of the proteins.”

They go on to say, “Proteins fold up, and glycine is a small molecule that is often found at the folding places. Since glyphosate is much larger, it prevents the protein molecule from folding properly, leading to the disruption of function of many  proteins with essential roles in metabolism and regulatory processes.”

On June 14, 2016, Congress held the U.S. Congressional Hearing on Glyphosate.

In his powerpoint during the hearing molecular biologist, soil biologist and genetic engineer Thierry Vrain said, “One ppm (of glyphosate) kills Bacillus, Bifidobacteria, Enterococcus, Lactobacillus, Camphylobacter, Pseudomonas, etc.” (slide 15). These are all strains needed for the proper function of the microbiome. Vrain was pro-GMO before he studied the products and their results.

Senior Research Scientist at MIT Stephanie Seneff, PhD., presented in the Congressional Hearing explaining the connection that Glyphosate is inserting itself into the synthesis of proteins. She said, “Any proteins with conserved glycine residues are likely to be affected in a major way.” She further explained how this explains the Zika Virus and Microcephaly. (Slides 2, 3 and 4).

DNA Research Scientist Sterling Hill presented in the hearing on the negative impact Glyphosate has on oxalobacter formigenes, a Gram-negative, anaerobic bacterium which should normally reside in a healthy microbiome degrading oxalates. He said, “Oxalate inhibits the breakdown of glyoxylate, which is a disintegration product of glyphosate, this would lead to an accumulation of glyoxylate, a strong glycating agent.” (Slide 2).

When there is a breakdown in this system it leads to kidney stones, UTIs or incontinence.

In an interview with GM Watch Vrain said, “Roundup (Monsanto’s herbicide) is a chelator; it holds manganese, magnesium and a few other minerals. It holds the minerals and doesn’t let go so basically it starves the plant. It probably also starves many other creatures in the soil, but I don’t think that is documented.”

This may be the reason so many people are magnesium deficient.

Beyond Pesticides further says, “The consequences of (Glyphosate prevention of glycine function) can lead to impaired fatty acid release leading to obesity, impaired insulin receptor response leading to diabetes, impaired one-carbon metabolism leading to neural tube defects and autism, impaired cell cycle control during DNA synthesis, and disregulated phosphorylation cascades leading to cancer, lung disorders, and autoimmune diseases.”
